I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Two weeks goes by fast. Time once again for another newsletter!
What have I been up to?
These past couple of weeks I’ve taken a bit of a step back from the novel project. I’ve finished up through Chapter 8, so I’m down to four more chapters and the epilogue. However, things have been pretty damn stressful, and I needed to go easier on myself.
Also, in addition to writing my own books I write fanfiction over on AO3 (Archive of Our Own). I have a very long project I’ve been working on since late June 2023 that is currently sitting at 125,920 words with three chapters to go. I’ve slowed down on that project as I’ve recently shifted my attention more to my own novels, and it’s been just over a month since my last chapter update. So for these two weeks, I’ve returned to fanfic land for a bit of self-soothing and comfort, and also so that I don’t keep my poor readers over there waiting. I should have the next chapter up for them either today or tomorrow!
My ongoing trilogy
Like I said, I haven’t worked on writing much more of Book #2 just yet, but it’ll be getting my attention again within the next few days!
Last time, we got the reveal that the first book’s title is Shimmering Shadows, and you got a brief introduction to our two main characters, Luka and Mavra! And our poll asked whether you felt more affinity with darkness or light. Got one vote this time (and I shower you with all the confetti, voter!), and like me, that individual aligns more with darkness.
This week, I’m going to start teasing the cover art of Shimmering Shadows. It’s already been completed, but let’s take our time with this reveal. The cover will feature our two main boys!
Today, you get to see the six pose options that my artist friend gave to me after we talked about what I might potentially like to see.
I thought about doing a poll, but they’re not getting much attention, and I also can’t have up to six possible answers, lol, so I’ll just pose a question here that you can answer in the comments if you’d like. Which option do you think I went with? Do you favor any one over the others?
What’s Remy been up to?
He’s been very sweet these last couple of weeks, staying extra close and cuddly, which I’ve really been needing.
In other news
Well, last week I mentioned personal life taking a dive and getting difficult. The end of this week crescendoed into what I was pretty certain was going to happen, and I got fired. 🙃 Turns out that department leadership really has a problem with it when you’re too consistently vocal about where they’re lacking and your problems with how you and your coworkers are treated, and they’ll spin whatever mistruths they need to about you to fire you.
But I’m taking it in stride and choosing a positive outlook. I’d gotten stuck in that job for several long years and was miserable, so this is fate kicking me in the ass and making me find another job faster than the pace I was attempting before. And now, I can just have a bit of an impromptu break, refresh my soul, focus on my writing while I look for new jobs, and be ready and raring to go as soon as a new opportunity lands.

Help me grow!
I appreciate all of you who’ve subscribed to this rambling newsletter of a barely there author! 💜 If you feel up to sharing me and my thoughts to the rest of the world (or the little corner of it that you inhabit), I’d sure appreciate that too.
